REVIEWS 2006 ENTERTAINING MR STONE After a too-long absence from the Black Lace ranks, Portia Da Costa is back with a tale of rude goings-on in a local government office, where Maria is embroiled in kinky mind games with her boss and unlikely middle-aged sex object, Robert Stone. However, her growing obsession with him is mixed with the knowledge that he’s manipulating her for his own thrills, and she needs to develop the power to play him at his own level... While the SM-tinged climax to the novel relies on one of the characters having a previously unrevealed and rather convenient penchant for visiting professional doms, the growing lust between Maria and Stone is beautifully drawn. She knows she’s getting into a situation which is way over her head, but the overwhelming, tunnel vision effect that ‘Clever Bobby’ has on her body and emotions will be familiar with anyone who’s ever had an all-consuming crush. And that’s not to mention a couple of other very horny encounters which take place along the way, most notably ones involving some girl-on-girl fun in a biker’s café toilets and a spot of mutual DIY with the cute office IT geek. This is as entertaining as you could possibly wish! Review by Elizabeth Coldwell for Forum Vol 40 No 8 ENTERTAINING MR STONE Her 15 minutes of C-list celeb fame having run out, Maria returns to her home town and takes the dullest job in the world, working in a local government office. However, the job has its compensations in the shape of Director of Finance, Robert Stone. Crumpled, middle-aged and anonymous-looking, he's still the sexiest man Maria has ever met, and the effect he has on her plunges her into an overwhelming erotic obsession that causes her to play any naughty game Mr Stone wants. However, there's a battle of wills going on between Stone and his colleague William Youngblood, and Maria finds herself caught up in the middle of it... Entertaining Mr Stone is a lively, lusty tale of office politics gone deeply kinky, and Portia Da Costa exquisitely captures the feeling of being completely obsessed with your dream guy. Perfect for lovers of sub/dom mindgames and all those who've ever fancied an unlikely sex object. Review by Elizabeth Coldwell for For Women Vol 14 No 5
